Mark Waschke was born and raised on a dairy farm
in Northwest Washington. Fascinated by the natural world, he learned
tree identification in the Boy scouts.
At Western Washington University he studied Plant Biology.
Waschke began his work with the chain saw by cutting firewood.
In 1978, he started a tree pruning business.
His first sculpture was a functional piece,
a mailbox holder, created in 1990. Since then Mark has completed
many commissioned works and displays his sculpture at galleries
in the Pacific Northwest.
"I love challenges.
Envisioning and sculpting new creations provides a constant
thought and action process to keep me moving." Waschke
describes himself as a lover of nature, balance, and diversity.
He enjoys spirited discussions, the workings of the brain, bike
touring, humor, golf, writing poetry, writing, and reaching a
quorum with all the people in his mind.
